Digital Loans and Banks: Current Status and Future Predictions

Few years ago I discussed the issue of Banking Channels and Customer Centric in a post titled: The Marriage of Customer Centric and Multi-Channel . I argued that Customer Centric Bank It services should enable use of the preferred Channel or mixed Channels by each customer. It looked like more valuable customers preferred Self Service Channels, mainly the Internet Channel.   A year ago, I wrote another post: Is Mobile Banking a unique Channel? The bottom line was: It is not yes a unique Channel, however, it is enhancing the trend for usage of Self Service Channels.  Guess what, more valuable bank's customers prefer this Channel.   Recently, I read Business Insider 's article titled: Digital lenders have a 1 trillion opportunity - this sidedeck has everything you want to know about them . The article is based upon a research published by Autonomous Research . Autonomous Research is a financial specialist research company. The research notes t...

Vendors Survival: Nokia the new DEC

When I begun posting about Vendors Survival, I had to explain why I doubt that even the strongest vendors, e.g. Microsoft , Apple , Google , will surely survive for at least 10 years. The easiest way to explain it was by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) ill fated history. The IT leaders of the 80ths were IBM , HP and DEC. However, they had to adapt to a new model inspired by Microsoft and other Software vendors. The Hardware Centric Model was changed to Software Centric Model. IBM, HP and DEC could no longer rely on Hardware sells high profit margins and Software as Hardware complementary low priced product line.  IBM and HP adapted successfully. DEC failed. DEC Strategy relied on Alpha chips based Servers . After unsuccessful quarters DEC sold product lines (e.g. System Management software to CA , Communication Hardware to Cabletron ).   Finally, DEC sold their Alpha chips patents to Intel . I immediately notified my DEC based clients that they c...

STKI Summit 2012

On March 19th I participated in STKI Summit . participating in this Israeli Market analysis conference is  an habit. I aprticpated in 2011 , 2010  and 2008 . My consist particiaption indicates that, at  least in my opinion, it is a valuable event.  This year theme was IT Revolution Consumer Power . The Consumer centirc IT revolution is not totally new, it was discussed in previous year Summit Presentations, as one of the driving forces. I am attaching links to the presentations: Jimmy Schwarzkopf - IT Market in Israel 2012 Pini  Cohen - Trends in Infrastructure: Paradigm Shift Shahar Geiger Maor - Networking Trends , EndPoints Trends Einat Shimoni - Trends in Enterprise Applications, Web & Analytics Galit Fein - Office of the CIO Office of the CMO market Trends 2012 I did not find a link to the new analyst and Research Assistant  Liza Bodogin 's presentation on ECM, Talent Training and Social Applications. Probably it is included in Ein...

Acquisition is not simple: SAP-Sybase acquisition agreement

On May 14th SAP AG signed a definitive agreement to acquire Sybase Inc. for approximately $5,800 million. The offer price represents a premium of 44% over the three-month average stock price of Sybase and a premium of approximately 56.36% over the closing price of Sybase' common stock of $41.57 on May 11, According to the announcements by the two companies the deal, which follows a partnership for a significant time, is beneficial for both companies. I partially agree: It is very good for Sybase. However, I think that acquiring Sybase looks like a SAP's mistake. What motivated SAP to acquire Sybase? Previous SAP's CEO LEO Apotheker was replaced by Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe due to conservative business approach. One of the significant results of this approach is few acquisitions. SAP's main competitor Oracle, is acquiring many companies in a relatively short time. So far SAP's significant acquisition was Business Objects a Business Intelligence inf...
