SOA filling the Gaps

On 1978 I participated in an International computers conference in Jerusalem.  I was a young Systems Programmer and a good Chess player playing in tournaments. A main attraction was an Artificial Intelligence related event. It was a Chess Tournament between the best programs in the world. The leading programs of that time played better than ChapGPT 5 and other general purpose Ai Chatbots.  After the tournament people played against the Chess Programs. I won  easily  a game against one program. I do not remember if I defeated the program which won the tournament  or against the program which won the 2nd place. On 1997 IBM's Deep Blue defeated world champion Gary Kasparov . Many large banks are IBM Mainframes users. They use mainframes for decades. They use other platforms as well, but their Core Banking systems are deployed on Mainframes. Recently leading Cloud Computing vendors such as Amazon , Microsoft and Google approached large banks in order to start migration of systems to their Public Clouds.  I looked for evidence supporting the notion that Banks are transforming from Mainframes to Public Clouds. I found no evidence. I am not the one to be blamed for not finding any significant evidence, because there is no evidence supporting the notion cited above.  Banks are using Public Clouds but... Like many other organizations, banks are using Public Clouds applications. However, they do not use it for Core Banking systems deployment. In a previous post titled Hyped Cloud Technologies Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) tied in the fourth place in a ReadWrite Cloud survey of Hyped Cloud Technologies. Yesterday, I read a Forrester Research Note about PaaS, which may explain why it is rated as one of the most Hyped Cloud Technologies.    Simply, PaaS is immature technology.  Immature technologies related to in the spotlight topic such as Cloud Computing , are natural hype candidates.     PaaS and IaaS PaaS and IaaS are related concepts: both provide technology for development and deployment of applications in the Cloud. IaaS solutions such as Amazon EC2 or Amazon S3 provide basic platform for Application Development and Application Deployment.  It is only infrastructure.
